The year 2020 brought exceptional challenges for Katey, marked by the tragic loss of her sister and the demanding responsibilities as a Labor and Delivery Clinical Manager amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and helping her two kids cope with education at home. With growing personal and professional demands, in addition to the stress of the pandemic, she recognized the need for support and sought help from the Y.

Katey decided to resume her fitness journey and found Personal Trainer Evelyn at the Y. After processing through a difficult period, she was ready to get back at it and make exercise a regular part of her life again.

Evelyn did more than that- she became a friend and mentor. During training sessions, Evelyn would do a “check-in” with me, assessing how I was feeling and tailoring the workout to meet me where I was at that day. With her genuine personality and ability to listen and ask the right questions, Evelyn helped improve my physical and mental well-being.

What I would tell anyone now is that “self-care is a lot of work and takes time, but you don’t have it do it alone.” The Y and the trainers are there for you and will meet you wherever you are at.
